“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” – Ephesians 6:10-12
It is important for us as God’s people to memorize the Word of God because of the battle that we are fighting in day to day. We are not fighting against people. We are fighting against the schemes of the devil who wishes to discourage us and to destroy our faith. The only way we can hope to fight off the devil is the same way Christ fought against Him, by the Word of God. These Fighter Verses are strategically chosen for all people, children and adults alike. I would like to encourage parents and children to work together on making these verses a part of their daily walk with Christ. Adults can benefit from memorizing verses just as much as children.
I will be listing one verse a week right here on this page for you and your family to memorize. A pack of these verses, however, can also be purchased by the people who designed them at childrendesiringGod.org. Whether you choose to order the pack, or to work on each verse from this site, it is my prayer that the spiritual walk of both you and your child will benefit from this important spiritual discipline.
For the week of:
Sun. November 1st – “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” (James 1:12)
Sun. October 18th – “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” (James 1:2-3)
Sun. October 11th – “Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God? You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your might among the peoples.” (Psalm 77:13-14)
Sun. October 4th – “Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is nothing on earth that I desire but You. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:25-26)
Sun. September 27th – “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world – the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions – is not from the Father, but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.” (1 John 2:15-17)
Sun. September 20th – “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:8-9)
Sun. September 13th – “For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.” (Psalm 62:5-8)
Sun. September 6th – “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?” (Psalm 56:3-4)
Sun. August 30th – “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:1-2)
Sun. August 23rd – “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been His counselor?” “Or who has given a gift to Him that he should be repaid?” For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be glory forever. Amen.” (Romans 11:34-36)
Sun. August 16th – “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good?” (Deuteronomy 10:12-13).
Sun. August 9th – “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations.” Deuteronomy 7:9
